Enchanted Brunch at Understory Bar

Del Mar, CA – There is a hidden gem in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center in North County called the Sky Deck, which is home to 9 kitchens, 3 breweries, and one of the best craft cocktail bars in San Diego, Understory Bar.

Understory Bar is a novel concept, that combines all of the things you love about a rooftop party, without having to battle the elements. The décor and architecture are second to none, as you feel as though you were transported to some magically dope world with invisible walls, surrounded by metal trees and fresh foliage. Whether you visit the bar in the day or night, you may walk in to check out the view, but you’ll definitely stay when you experience the cocktails and customer service.

On November 6, and running every other weekend through December 2022, Understory introduced a new Sunday Brunch series called the Enchanted Brunch…. and yes, the experience is all the vibes you’re hoping it is. Let’s see why this event has all of the ingredients to become a San Diego favorite.

Brunch Cocktails

The kick off of the Enchanted Brunch series came with a special brunch menu curated by the Understory mix masters, sponsored by Hennessey Cognac and Volcan Tequila, and successfully had people feeling like they were floating through the Sky Deck. Regardless if you chose to go dark or light, the special brunch menu was filled with light, crisp, and refreshing flavors. The Toco Toucan, made with Volcan Cristalino, Hibiscus, Lemonade and Cranberry, was a crowd favorite. This brunch punch had no after taste, and was so easy to drink, there should have been a warning label on the drink! The Hennessy drinks were light and sweet, and had a creeper effect, that surprised a few of the brunch guests. Good thing there was a great selection of food to compliment the level of buzz that was achieved at this event!

November Brunch Menu

Brunch Bites

Since Understory does not have a kitchen attached to it, you have the ability to order from any of the surrounding restaurants, and served right at your table.

In a perfect brunch pairing, CraftHouse at the Sky Deck, is offering their brunch menu to Understory guests starting at 11 a.m. with hearty selections the keep you smiling and bobbing your head throughout the brunch. The French Toast is arguably the best in the city, the pork belly hash with home potatoes is perfect for picking, and the steak and eggs hit the spot for people looking for a hearty option.

After noon, the other kitchens are open for ordering, which means your party can mix up their cuisine to match whatever they want!

The Vibe

If you’re a brunch fan, you know that the real success from a Brunch day party, comes from the vibe. Understory’s music director, Gabe Vega, kicked off the first brunch with a musical line up of classic soul, alternative R&B, and old school hip hop, that kept everyone’s mood permanently lifted and head constantly swaying. Each week, the DJs have the assignment to keep a feel good vibe, to match the magic of this event.

In Conclusion

While this is a limited series event, the best thing you could do for yourself is to make sure you get a reservation for you and your friends. Whether its a birthday celebration or just an excuse to get out and be happy, just do it! The brunches are currently scheduled for November 6 & 20 and December 4 & 18. We can only hope this Enchanted Brunch will magically appear in the New Year! Get your Understory Bar reservations below!
