“Bring Her Back” (2025) Movie Review

As an artist, I never want to disrespect the craft, the artist, or the effort. So, to avoid doing that, I will speak solely on the film itself. This movie- Let me say, I have never wanted to walk out of a movie so badly. I recognize that walking out of a movie is the equivalent of being at a restaurant, ordering a great steak, then going in the kitchen and telling the chef that the steak is trash.  So, I tend to refrain from ever doing that or walking out of a movie. Typically, the stellar thing to do is just finish it and keep it to yourself that you didn’t enjoy it.

The truth is, although I’ve carried that belief for some time, I’ve never felt compelled to ever want to do it either, until I saw Bring Her Back.

Taking place in a rural town, Bring Her Back is a supernatural horror film about Piper, a young, visibly impaired girl who lives with her older step-brother, Andy, and her Father, Phil.

Without giving too much away, Andy has a troubled past, but Andy and Piper have a very close bond.  They use the term grapefruit to describe any situation. Tragedy Unexpectedly strikes, and the two siblings have to be taken in by Counselor Laura, a seemingly kind but eccentric foster mother, caring for her mute foster child, Oliver.

That’s where this movie takes a turn for the worse. I genuinely was looking to like this movie, but I absolutely did not. It was a horror movie that took entirely too long to pay off. And the suspense just was not suspenseful, since the story dragged on so long.

To me, this movie is essentially if you’re in a situation with the villian, and the villian just will not close the deal. At that point, it’s like, “okay monster, please just kill me already.”

Have you ever been in a situation that just becomes extremely redundant, and you just can’t wait for it to be over? That was this film, Bring Her Back. I wish anyone would just take her and her crazy Mother away.

1/10. I only gave it a one because it started with such promise.
